Modal verbs present the adverb ne alone more frequently than verbs<br />

of the other types as far as G&E, WS, KA, and A&[) are concerned.<br />

Havelok and Ferumbras, however, no longer show the tendency. As<br />

discussed above in 2.1., those negative constructions which occur<br />

with a considerably small frequency tend to be confined to some<br />

specific syntactic contexts. This implies that the factor of syntactic<br />
