The Universities <strong>of</strong>fered three to four year Degree and Honours Courses <strong>in</strong><br />
Agriculture and allied subjects. In addition, Cambridge and Oxford arranged one<br />
year Post Graduate Diplomas and Durham, Leeds, Read<strong>in</strong>g, Aberystwyth and<br />
Bangor Universities <strong>of</strong>fered two year Diploma Courses <strong>in</strong> either Agriculture,<br />
Dairy<strong>in</strong>g, Horticulture or Estate Management. On completion <strong>of</strong> the Diploma<br />
Courses, the majority <strong>of</strong> students sat for one or other <strong>of</strong> the National Diplomas:<br />
N.D.A., N.D.D., N.D.P., N.D.H., etc.<br />
The <strong>Agricultural</strong> Colleges <strong>of</strong>fered two year courses lead<strong>in</strong>g to a Diploma and the<br />
majority <strong>of</strong> the Colleges catered for the external National Diploma exam<strong>in</strong>ations.<br />
The Farm Institutes <strong>of</strong>fered a one year General Course <strong>in</strong> Agriculture or<br />
Horticulture. The Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal was also responsible for all <strong>Agricultural</strong> <strong>Education</strong><br />
and advisory work <strong>in</strong> his county.[i]<br />

Organisers and 468 assistants.
