Mr Stratton's impressive maiden speech as Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Governors was well<br />
received by the County Council. He strongly recommended that the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />
items be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the Build<strong>in</strong>g Programme to complete Stage III <strong>in</strong> the<br />
development <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Agriculture:-<br />
1. The completion <strong>of</strong> study bedrooms for 48 students<br />
2. New additional room for dairy<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>struction adjo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the<br />
R.D.E. Block.<br />
3. A new pig fatten<strong>in</strong>g house<br />
4. Completion <strong>of</strong> seven cottages for farm workers and staff.<br />
5. Cow kennels to accommodate 80 cows at Notton Farm<br />
6. Adaptation <strong>of</strong> farm build<strong>in</strong>gs at Home Farm for calf rear<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and store cattle.<br />
All these recommendations were adopted and build<strong>in</strong>gs completed by 1972.<br />
Later Mr Stratton was responsible for repairs to <strong>Lackham</strong> House and its<br />
adaptation for the County <strong>Agricultural</strong> and Horticultural Library. There was
