In 1948, Mr F Foster tendered his resignation to the <strong>Wiltshire</strong> Agriccultural<br />
Executive Committee and the County Council appo<strong>in</strong>ted Mr J 0<br />
Thomas as County <strong>Agricultural</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Officer and Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lackham</strong><br />
Farm Institute. His immediate duties were:-<br />
(1) To supervise and organise the work at the Farm Institute<br />
{For the first three years, he was responsible to the A.E.C.<br />
and afterwards to the <strong>Wiltshire</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Committee).<br />
(2) To organise and teach at day release and even<strong>in</strong>g classes <strong>in</strong><br />
Agriculture for the <strong>Education</strong> Committee.<br />
(3) To support the Y.F.C. movement <strong>in</strong> the County.<br />
(4) To prepare for the transfer <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lackham</strong> to the <strong>Wiltshire</strong><br />
County Council from the A.E.C. <strong>in</strong> 1951.<br />
(5) To co-operate with:<br />
(a) the National <strong>Agricultural</strong> Advisory Service<br />
(b) the National Farmers' Union<br />
(c) the <strong>Agricultural</strong> Workers' Union<br />
(d) domestic producers and beekeepers
