Village Housing Allocation Methodology for Sites Identified in Policy SR1 (Part 4) Wychavon District Local Plan Revised Deposit (July 2003) Page 170 ANNEXE 1 1. Sites for new housing have been identified in 11 of the District’s villages as per Policy SR1. 2. The sites were chosen based on the following methodology: • A minimum level of service provision of a primary school and a regular bus service to a nearby town. These criteria were defined on the basis of Government Guidance (PPG3) and a perceived need for younger family housing in the villages identified through the pre-deposit consultations. • An application of the sequential approach (as identified in CSP Policy SD7) to the villages. This identifies the need to consider utilising brownfield land before looking at greenfield land. • Impact on the appearance and/or character of the area or other sitespecific reasons. • Location and scale of previous allocations (in adopted WDLP 1998). 3. The number of houses allocated to each site was based on density requirements of Policy RES7 and the capacity of the sites as well as the appearance and character of the surrounding area. The capacity of local services to accommodate the proposed allocations was considered during the consultation prior to deposit. This was not given overriding importance in all circumstances as it had to be countered against the possibility of developer contributions towards improving existing capacities through the developments. NB. “A regular bus service” is defined as a peak hour return journey (Monday to Friday) to a nearby town and a minimum of one return service on Saturdays. 265
