ROTARY CLUB OF RABAUL JELTA WONG DIRECTOR 7290 0398 982 9271 jelta@datec.net.pg GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE The geographical scope of the organisation covers Rabaul, Kavieng, Kundiawa, Lae, Port Moresby, Wewak, Bulolo, Goroka, and Mt Hagen. And is also part of district 96 00 part of Brisbane, Solomon Islands, and PNG. HISTORY It was established in Rabaul in 1951 and in Kokopo in 1997. The main objective was to raise money to bring supply to pay for freight. When the organisation was first established it was pretty big meaning it had 40 to 50 members. HUMAN RESOURCES There are a total of 12 staffs who are volunteers. The internal structure of the organisation is that we have the president on top, the treasurer, then secretary, and then the 12 members. NETWORKING AND INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS Rotary Club is a member of a network known as the Friends of Rotary (members of business council). JUDICIAL ASPECTS The Rotary Club operates under the Rotary Bylaws which is an international bylaw. And is officially recognised by the provincial government. FINANCING AND FUNDING ASPECTS Most of the funding comes from fundraisings and there is usually a financial report given every week and a three months roll-over. MAIN SECTORS Education and Health Sector MAIN ACTIVITIES Is to provide capacity building, service delivery, awareness, and advocacy. 44

And also in places like Lihir, Autonomous Region of Bougainville, and West New Britain. HISTORY The organisation was established in 2004. And the main objective was there was a need for conservation of the environment by the Baining themselves because of the developments that were taking place in the province. HUMAN RESOURCES There are a total of eleven (11) staffs. There is a director, financial administration officer, program officer, scientific officer, three (3) area coordinators, two(2) women affairs development officer, secretary and lastly, the volunteers. NETWORKING AND INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS The organisation is part of a network; it has permanent partners, donors, and development partners. Locally, ENBSEK, WIDE BAY, FORCERT, BAREFOOT, ROOT FOR APPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT, ADRA, and apart from those NGOs, government statutory bodies such as the ENB COUNCIL OF WOMEN, Community Development, catholic church, PNG University of Natural Resources dealing with environment, ECO forestry. Internationally it has network with UNDP, GREEN GRASS, COMMONWEALTH FOUNDATION, CONSERVATION FOUNDATION FOR AUSTRALIA, MINERAL POLICY INSTITUTE. JUDICIAL ASPECTS The organisation has a Constitution and is registered but still waiting for the certificate. And it is recognised by the provincial government, Gazelle District. And also the current board they have was done through a hand pick which is made up f the three (3) presidents of the Baining LLG. FINANCING AND FUNDING ASPECTS Most of the funds come from contributions from all members in which all Baining are encouraged to be part of. MAIN SECTOR - CONSERVATION AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT MAIN ACTIVITIES Capacity building, service delivery, awareness, advocacy are all activities of the organisation. And the Baining benefit most out of the programs offered by the organisation.
