It was New Zealand that showed the initial interest under the program ‘Water for Survival.’ We are technical NGO hence we do a lot of hard work. Most of our work is infrastructure building. Organisational Aspect AT Project has 67 staffs, 47 of which are permanent and 20 are volunteers but on allowance. All the 20 voluntary staffs are at the project sites in the communities. Networking and Institutional Relational They have networkinfg relationship with: Provincial govcernment department District government department Eastern Highlands Family Voice Digicel PNG Juricadical and Legal Aspects It is formally registered with PNG IPA office in Port Moresby. AT Project operates under the set rules and principles of the organisation Financial Aspect In terms of finance, each agency gives their own specific funds to sopport the projects they engaged. Some funds from AUSAid. The government do spport our projects but do not fund. When it comes to reporting, it is very flexible. We are not very much obliged to report. Some of the donors like AUS Aid send their reps to work with us. Activities and Sector Water & Sanitation Project – establish water supplies in all the school HIV/AIDS – with the support from Family Voice Establish toilets in all the schools in Eastern Highlands – that is with the support of Digicel PNG Run workshop programs for young teenage girls and teachers with the engagement of tertiary institutions Light up the world project – that is with the support of the provincial government to put solar lights 88

Josephine Andreas Location: YWCA Hall, Goroka Date: 25 th of August, 2010 History The association has existed for more 20 years since it started. It is a religious association actually working as servicce delivery arm of the Catholic Church. The church entertain this is because when preaching gospel only and if there is no humanitarian services or advocacy programs are provided if the communities, kthat will seem imbalance. We have our main churches in 19 out stations in whole of Eastern Highlands Province. The association works closely with the churches and the members in anything that it plans. The president moves aroud the 19 church areas or out stations when identifying needs of the communties. Organisational Aspects Have more 1500 plus members both registered and not registered. Not the ordinary staffs but the executives and directors only the nones and priests that take up those positions. Most of the members work on voluntary bases, with no allowance but as helper being the members of the church. In most cases it is not ful time which means they are only needed for support when implementing the projects. These volunteers use thier own monyey to do their work. Networking and Institutiional Relations Our network is only within the church organisations but not other NGOs and even government departments. We have a strong network with the communities. Although there organisations we could ask for support and may be work togther in network but then we don’t want to be weaken through such supports. We have a pastorial assembly which meet every 6 moths per year which means twice a year. We present our work reports during these meeting. Juridical and Legal Aspects The association was formally registered with PNG IPA and also with the Division of Eastern Highlands ProvinceWomen’s Offfice. Have constitution which abides the association’s operations. We have board executives who an office term of two years. After two years new executive are elected. Finanical Aspects Our main finance assistance comes from the Bishops office. Some members of the association give some times give support either in financial terms or other means of implementation activities.
