1. NGO historical aspects
cc. Creation in the 70s by churches, trade union and private sector related to economy.
They wanted to enhance the dialogue between the Government and the private sector
thanks to a research programme.
dd. In 2010, INA aims at facilitating issues in the social, environment and economy
domains. They are working thanks to privates sectors contributions (locally registered
companies) as well as some public companies (e.g. Air Nuigini, Nation Bank). INA is
farmed out by Government as well to provide specific services.
ee. In 1997, the Government wanted to move from an ad hoc dialogue to a regular routine
and formalise the information exchange system. So the Government created the
CIMC, a team a professional to facilitate the dialogue, to have an input, to do
awareness and counselling.
2. Organizational aspects
ff. 22 permanent staff.
gg. CIMC is managed by INA which receives management fees. It can be assimilated to
one programme which is accountable to sectors committees, government, donors and
a private council (the Government is the chairman, and the members of the civil
society are the trade unions, women groups, ecoforestry forum, conservation
Melanesia, the national council of churches, the chamber of commerce)
hh. INA is accountable to the council and the contributors.

ii. INA has got fees for administrating the CIMC.
jj. INA receives money from its contributors.
kk. INA sometimes receives funds from other donors like the EC, the WB and the ABD
(research studies).
6. Activities and sectors
ll. INA is independent and is not lobbying. It’s studying the private sector perspective,
the possibility of investment. INA tires to be ahead of issues
