1. NGO historical aspects
PNGEF was established in the 1960s as prescribed by the Industrial Organisations Act, 1964. Main
aim was to promote the interest of employers and represent employers in industrial disputes. Has
currently about 200 employer members, most big organizations.
2. Organizational aspects
Covers registered employers in the country. Currently only 2 officers, including the Director. But in its
hey days it had some 6 employers.
3. Networking and institutional relations
PNGEF networks with PNGTUC, respectively peak industry employer groups and Department of
Industrial Relations. Internationally, it liaises with ILO, International Employers Federation, and others.
4. Juridical aspects
The organisation is registered under the Industrial Organisations Act, 1964. The Board meeting every
6 months.
5. Financial aspects
Member contributions and income from shares and equity in commercial companies. The financial
audits are done every year and made available to its members
6. Activities and sectors
Main sectors: Member employers of PNG
Main activities: Providing advocacy on behalf of employers and negotiate in industrial disputes on their
behalf.
