1.0 Introduction
1.0.1 This document provides supporting information for an application for
authorisation under the Radioactive Substances Act (RSA) 1993, for disposal of
solid Low Level Radioactive waste (LLW) with a specific activity of less than or
equal to 200 Bq/g, including High Volume Very Low Level Waste (HV-VLLW), at
the East Northants Resource Management Facility, operated by Augean plc.
1.0.2 The waste has a very low radioactivity content which this application
demonstrates would present a very low risk if disposed.
1.0.3 This document provides information to the Environment Agency, as regulator, in
order that they can consider the application for authorisation. This document is
also a public document.
1.0.4 The key sections of the document are:

accordance with the guidance on contents issued by the Environment Agency
(ref 1).

An Annex containing further introductory information on radiation and
radioactivity.

1.0.5 This document contains proposed arrangements and conditions which are
subject to regulatory approval and changes. If the application is granted the
conditions that apply will be those established by the authorisation and by
detailed supporting operational documentation prepared to address the
authorisation.
