Once the FOSC activates the Wildlife Branch, several components of oiled wildlife response can<br />

be initiated, including reconnaissance to determine species and areas to focus operations, hazing<br />

of animals to prevent oiling, search and collection for live and dead animals in the spill area,<br />

treatment and rehabilitation of oiled animals, and release and monitoring of recovered animals.<br />

The agencies, organizations, and individuals responsible for these functions should be outlined in<br />

the Area Contingency Plan. An example of Wildlife Branch organization is shown in Figure 2.<br />
