spilled material should be reviewed and all recommended precautions followed. Workers and the<br />

rehabilitation facility shall be periodically monitored, using calibrated instruments and devices to<br />

determine exposure. Ventilation in all work areas should prevent the buildup of airborne<br />

contaminants.<br />

A portion of the rehabilitation facility should be designated for the storage of contaminated<br />

clothing, equipment, and medical waste until the items can be decontaminated or disposed of<br />

properly in accordance with the site safety plan.<br />

Volunteers<br />

Wildlife response programs regularly use volunteers, particularly at the rehabilitation facility.<br />

Wildlife response managers need to ensure that volunteers are appropriately trained, supervised,<br />

and informed of all hazards. A comprehensive volunteer management program is an essential<br />

component of an efficient wildlife response. This management program needs to address, at a<br />

minimum, volunteer safety, training, supervision, scheduling, and liability.<br />
