On-going live animal capturelrelease programs as authorized under
Part A.2.
Live animal capturelrelease as part of a disease, emergency
response or die-off investigation;
Live animals stranded or in rehabilitation (specimens may include
biopsies);
Captive animals when sampling is beyond the scope of normal
husbandry;
Directly taken in fisheries for such animals in countries and
situations where such taking is legal;
Killed during subsistence harvests by native communities;
Killed incidental to commercial fishing operations.
Killed incidental to other human activities (e.g. ship strikes,
blasting, etc.);
Found dead on the beach or at sea;
Found dead as part of NOAA investigations (e.g. hazmat spills, oil
spills, harmhl algal blooms, etc.);
Found on the beach or on land within 114 mile of the ocean (bones,
teeth or ivory of any dead animal); or
Soft parts sloughed, excreted, or discharged provided animals in
the wild are not harassed during collection.
The HolderIPI or CIS may receivelpossess samples taken from species of the
Order Sirenia, polar bear (Ursus maritimus), sea otter (Enhydra lutris), and
marine otter (Lontra felina).
