On-going live animal capturelrelease programs as authorized under<br />

Part A.2.<br />

Live animal capturelrelease as part of a disease, emergency<br />

response or die-off investigation;<br />

Live animals stranded or in rehabilitation (specimens may include<br />

biopsies);<br />

Captive animals when sampling is beyond the scope of normal<br />

husbandry;<br />

Directly taken in fisheries for such animals in countries and<br />

situations where such taking is legal;<br />

Killed during subsistence harvests by native communities;<br />

Killed incidental to commercial fishing operations.<br />

Killed incidental to other human activities (e.g. ship strikes,<br />

blasting, etc.);<br />

Found dead on the beach or at sea;<br />

Found dead as part of NOAA investigations (e.g. hazmat spills, oil<br />

spills, harmhl algal blooms, etc.);<br />

Found on the beach or on land within 114 mile of the ocean (bones,<br />

teeth or ivory of any dead animal); or<br />

Soft parts sloughed, excreted, or discharged provided animals in<br />

the wild are not harassed during collection.<br />

The HolderIPI or CIS may receivelpossess samples taken from species of the<br />

Order Sirenia, polar bear (Ursus maritimus), sea otter (Enhydra lutris), and<br />

marine otter (Lontra felina).
