NEUSIEDLER as an
important economic factor
The operations of the NEUSIEDLER Group are important economic players,
both in the individual regions and at the supra-regional level. Most of the
NEUSIEDLER mills are the major employers for the communities surrounding
them and make substantial financial contributions to these regions.
Investments
Continuous investments in the expansion and optimisation of its plants safeguard
NEUSIEDLER’s sustained success.
Last year, major investment projects centred on the upgrading of the pulp
mill at Ruz˘omberok and the completion of the remodelling of PM18 (see page 35),
as well as the installation of cut-size cross cutters at Ruz˘omberok and Syktyvkar.
NEUSIEDLER plans further increases in production volume, in particular in the
capacity of the cut-size sector. One of the major investment projects in Austria
is “Flex 05“, which aims to increase the finishing capacity for cut-size paper by
140,000 tons by the end of 2004, thus establishing NEUSIEDLER as the strongest
performing Group in Europe in this sector. In future, NEUSIEDLER will have
a total cut-size capacity of 1.3 million tons.
