Apart from supporting the snow clearing service of the city of Ruz˘omberok in
Slovakia, NEUSIEDLER has also shown community engagement in sports, health
and education, e.g. by sponsoring a local basketball club and a local football
club, and by giving money to orphanages at Christmas. In Szolnok, Hungary,
NEUSIEDLER also acts as sponsor for the local football club.
Hadera Paper, NEUSIEDLER’s subsidiary in Israel, focuses on promoting disadvantaged
groups of various religious denominations and awards a number of
scholarships to persons from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Community
engagement is also expressed by granting leave to employees for social work.
In addition to occasional charity initiatives, the main focus of NEUSIEDLER’s
community engagement in Austria is on sponsoring cultural events and initiatives.
In cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts, NEUSIEDLER sponsored the
“art-Venture – Abenteuer Papier“ project that revolves around the artistic dimension
of paper. This project was awarded the Austrian “Maecenas” art prize
and the first prize for art sponsors in Lower Austria. NEUSIEDLER also regularly
provides schools and local clubs in the community with paper.
Altogether, the NEUSIEDLER Group spent a total of EUR 6 million on
community engagement activities in 2003.
