Environmental
management at NEUSIEDLER
Environmental policy is the backbone of environmental management at
NEUSIEDLER. Complemented by quality and safety policy, it provides the fundamental
guidelines for the company in this sector.
Group-wide certification
The ISO 14001 certification of the Theresienthal mill in 1995, followed by the
EMAS certification in 1998, gave NEUSIEDLER a head start in the introduction of
environmental management systems according to international standards. The
Kematen mill was certified in 2001, followed by the certification of the two Hungarian
mills at Szolnok and Dunaújváros in 2002. Hadera in Israel had already
been certified according to ISO 14001 prior to its acquisition in 1999. In 2003,
the activities of NEUSIEDLER AG (the holding company) were certified according
to ISO 14001, with the certification process now being extended to the recently
acquired mills.
The Ruz˘omberok and Syktyvkar mills, acquired in 2001 and 2002, are expected
to receive certification by the end of 2004. At both locations, project groups
to promote the introduction of these management systems were set up and receive
the active support of the holding company and its experience from projects
at other locations. Regular internal audits provide information on the progress
of the projects.
