Thinking of the Future – our first Sustainability Report is guided by the same
dictum as our first Environmental Report published last year. Thinking of the future
expresses our deep concern for corporate management based on sustainability.
Balancing the interests of all stakeholders, i.e. owners, customers, suppliers,
employees and the communities surrounding us, in a meaningful way will
ensure the sustained economic success of the NEUSIEDLER Group.
With PUSHING THE LIMITS, our new corporate vision, we have set a new milestone
on our road to long-term success. Designed as a three-year process,
PUSHING THE LIMITS has a very clear aim: to make us one of the leading players
in the paper industry worldwide by 2006. PUSHING THE LIMITS underlines
our endeavour to achieve top performance in all our activities and expresses
our claim to operative excellence in production, sales and administration, as
well as theme leadership with regard to innovation, supply chain leadership and
the environment.
This vision applies to all NEUSIEDLER employees who are called upon to contribute
to the sustained economic success of the Group through their commitment.
PUSHING THE LIMITS also reflects the principle of sustainability formulated
in the code of conduct for the entire Mondi Group, which focuses particularly on
the areas of environmental excellence, innovation and community engagement.
In order to highlight the special importance of this principle and our pursuit of
excellence in these areas, the new Business Excellence competence center was
set up. Its primary function is to drive our Group-wide PUSHING THE LIMITS
efforts and put special emphasis on sustainability.
As an international Group, NEUSIEDLER takes its responsibility for the
environment very seriously, and PUSHING THE LIMITS will help us gain theme
leadership in environmental issues. Our major aim is to consistently minimise
the environmental impact of all our activities, a process that is ensured, inter
alia, by compliance with the environmental management system ISO 14001. In
addition, comprehensive investment programmes in all our plants aim at continuous
improvement of our environmental performance. At the moment we are
focusing on our Slovak mill at Ruz˘omberok, where a large-scale modernisation
project will lead to a remarkable improvement of the environmental situation.
