PPC Riebeeck West: Storm water Management Plan Page 78 8 KNOWLEDGE GAPS Baseline Environment: During the PPC “Se Kïka” EIA process (which has now been withdrawn) a number of specialist studies were commissioned which has provided PPC Riebeeck with a detailed understanding of their baseline environment. The specialist studies included; Air Quality; Agricultural Study; Aquatic Study; Botanical Study; Economic Study; Geotechnical Study; Health Study Heritage Study; Hydrogeological Study; Noise Study; Transport Study; Social Study; and Visual Study. As a result of all the specialist studies commissioned PPC Riebeeck has a good understanding of their baseline environment and the potential impact of the mine on the baseline environment. Over time through implementation of monitoring programmes, the knowledge concerning the baseline environment can be improved. Mining activities: At the time of compiling this Stormwater Management Plan, there are uncertainties on the best manner to handle the dirty water from the mining and production process.The correct design for water re-use management must be determines These uncertainties need to be addressed before implementation.
