1 Working with VivaDesigner 4 Open and closed curves To draw an open or closed curve, first a multiple line or a polygon must be created. Then all the lines of the object are converted to curves. The bend of the curves can be defined through the length of the tangent that is created interactively with the mouse. 1 DRAW AN OPEN CURVE: • Select or create a multiple line. • Move the mouse pointer over a sizing point. • Hold down the mouse button and the œ key together and move the mouse in any direction. Now you will see how a curve is created. Near the curve, the program also draws a tangent with arms of equal length, at whose ends you will find what are known as control points. • Let go the mouse button, when the object has received its required size. DRAWING A CLOSED CURVE: • Select or create a polygon. • Move the mouse pointer over a sizing point. • Hold down the mouse button and the œ key together and move the mouse in any direction. Now you will see how a curve is created. Near the curve, the program also draws a tangent with arms of equal length, at whose ends you will find what are known as control points. • Let go the mouse button, when the object has received its required form and size. ¿ ¿ Chapter 2 10 5 Deleting points With multiple lines, open curves, polygons and closed curves, the program offers you the possibility of deleting single points of the object. Move the mouse pointer (ø) over the sizing or control point that is to be deleted. The pointer converts to a sizing pointer. Now press the shortcut keys os (Alt+Shift). You delete the point selected with a single mouse click. If the sizing point of a curve is deleted, then its control points will be deleted too. 6 Adding points As well as deleting points, the program offers the possibility of adding single sizing points. The new sizing point appears over the original sizing point and must then be repositioned. Position the mouse pointer on a sizing point, hold down the o (Alt) key and click with the mouse. Let go the o (Alt) key without moving the mouse. Now click with the mouse exactly over the newly created sizing point and move the mouse in any direction to position it.
