Pr<strong>of</strong>ile: TNC supports protected areas<br />
throughout the world. TNC pioneered<br />
debt-for-nature agreements <strong>in</strong> Lat<strong>in</strong><br />
America. It has also developed other <strong>in</strong>novative<br />
fund-rais<strong>in</strong>g programmes, such<br />
as the “Parks <strong>in</strong> Peril” programme, established<br />
<strong>in</strong> 1990 to ensure adequate protection<br />
for threatened protected areas <strong>of</strong><br />
global significance <strong>in</strong> Lat<strong>in</strong> America and<br />
the Caribbean. TNC provides leadership<br />
<strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g new means <strong>of</strong> conservation<br />
f<strong>in</strong>ance, tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and technical assistance<br />
for partner organisations <strong>in</strong> over 25<br />
countries. It operates the largest private<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>ile: The ma<strong>in</strong> objective <strong>of</strong> UNESCO<br />
is to contribute to peace and security <strong>in</strong><br />
the world by promot<strong>in</strong>g collaboration<br />
among nations through education,<br />
