Pr<strong>of</strong>ile: OISCA International is an<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational non-governmental<br />
organisation <strong>in</strong> consultative status with<br />
the United Nations Economic and Social<br />
Council. The organisation has conducted<br />
a number <strong>of</strong> rural-based development and<br />
reforestation projects and programmes<br />
ma<strong>in</strong>ly <strong>in</strong> <strong>Asia</strong> and the Pacific region<br />
over the past 35 years and more. Every<br />
year OISCA International organises a<br />
reforestation programme whereby they<br />
search for “Tree Plant<strong>in</strong>g Volunteers”.<br />
Another activity organised by OISCA is<br />
the Children’s Forest Program, which<br />
educates children on the importance <strong>of</strong><br />
trees and the environment. They are<br />

taught the significance <strong>of</strong> tree plant<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and the <strong>in</strong>ter-relatedness with<br />
conservation <strong>of</strong> nature. Children plant<br />
trees <strong>in</strong> their schoolyard with teachers<br />
and parents, and look after the trees they<br />
have planted.<br />
