Ch<strong>in</strong>a <strong>in</strong> the areas <strong>of</strong> rural and social<br />
development, poverty, energy and environment,<br />
disaster management, and<br />
economic reform. As one <strong>of</strong> two designated<br />
implement<strong>in</strong>g agencies for the<br />
Global Environment Facility (GEF), the<br />
UNDP is responsible for oversee<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> GEF projects <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
those <strong>in</strong> the GEF operational area<br />

<strong>of</strong> this, the “Wetlands Biodiversity<br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>a” project is now work<strong>in</strong>g to remove<br />
barriers to effective conservation at four<br />
different sites <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a with high global
