Pr<strong>of</strong>ile: The CWBF was founded <strong>in</strong> 1988<br />

and currently has about 3,000 members<br />

<strong>in</strong> ten societies island-wide, namely the<br />

Wild Bird Societies <strong>of</strong> Keelung, Taipei,<br />

Taoyuan, Hs<strong>in</strong>chu, Nantou, Changhwa,<br />

P<strong>in</strong>tung, Penghu, Taidung and Hualien.<br />

The objectives <strong>of</strong> the CWBF are to<br />

conduct research on wild birds and other<br />

natural resources, promote conservation<br />

<strong>of</strong> birds and their habitats, and organise<br />

birdwatch<strong>in</strong>g for members and the<br />

public. The CWBF also manages bird<br />

data banks and is a partner <strong>of</strong> BirdLife<br />

International. CWBF conducts numerous<br />

projects <strong>in</strong> conservation, research and<br />

education.<br />

academic and private resources, and<br />

<strong>in</strong> Taiwan. The ECA promoted<br />

1999 as the Year <strong>of</strong> the Forest Culture;<br />

and held the Second Award for<br />
