Profile: The Ministry of Water Resources
has established 27 nature reserves under
its jurisdiction. The Ministry is responsible
for development, utilization, and
management of water resources in China.
This includes responsibility for flood
control and engineering of dams and
weirs. There are several Water Basin
Commissions under the Ministry. These
Commissions are empowered to develop
and use water resources in each area and
to coordinate water resources management
between concerned provinces.
