B.1 Information sheet<br />

TITLE OF STUDY:<br />

“The Disability Divide: A Study Into The Impact Of Internet Technologies On<br />

People With Physical Disabilities”<br />

AIMS OF STUDY:<br />

1. To demonstrate the ways in which Internet technologies provide advantages<br />

for people with physical disabilities;<br />

2. To develop a clear understanding of the ways in which people with physical<br />

disabilities perceive and utilise Internet technologies in relation to self,<br />

establishing the extent and nature of perceived barriers or benefits;<br />

3. To investigate and determine the effectiveness of Internet-related products<br />

and services available to assist people with physical disabilities;<br />

4. To determine the effect of government policy and corporate initiatives on the<br />

issues surrounding the disability divide; and<br />

5. To propose solutions that will help close the disability divide in relation to<br />

Internet use and access between people with and without a disability.<br />

PARTICIPANT INTERACTION:<br />

1. Participants will be asked to provide answers to questions based on general<br />

knowledge of Computing and Internet technology concepts, knowledge of<br />

specific Internet connectivity, views on the provision of resources by<br />

government and corporate entities and the opportunity for further comment.<br />

2. This survey has been distributed to Australians aged 18 and over. The survey<br />

should be completed only if you meet this criteria.<br />

3. The survey instrument is provided in four different formats: large print,<br />

Braille, online and via a telephone interview. A large copy or Braille edition<br />

should be attached to with this information sheet. If the participant would<br />

prefer to complete the survey via an alternative format, the online edition can<br />
