6.0 COMMUNICATIONS
The primary communication process in the safety organisation is one-to-one contact
between a person and his/her immediate superior and subordinate. The ‘Chain of
Command’ is also a ‘Chain of Communication’.
Matters such as policy changes will be published by senior management, and may be
issued in the form of a circular to all staff, but it is the responsibility of each manager and
supervisor also to explain the content and intention of the matter to his/her immediate
subordinates.
Both written and verbal communication is appropriate, depending on the geographical
location of the parties.
