Note: (1) it was not necessary to specify that the year was essential in
example 21 because there is no volume number, so it can be assumed to be
essential, but it was necessary to do so in example 20, because there is a
volume number there, so bl-oscola cannot infer that the year is essential.
(2) As explained above, although there was information about the institution
included in the bibliography data for example 20, bl-oscola knew that it
could be ignored. It also correctly stripped out full points. (3) The pagination
field of example 20 ensures that pinpoints are correctly formatted.
Now let’s look at a case where the year is not essential. 27
