8.7 PARKING<br />
There is no authorised parking area in the town. Hence, private vehicles as well as<br />
auto-rickshaws are generally parked on road intersection or along the road.<br />
8.7.1 Pedestrian Paths<br />
There is no provision for pedestrian movement along t he major and minor roads and<br />
people face problem while walking on the main roads, this also creates problem for<br />
the fast moving traffic. Both sides of the main roads is encroached by shop owners,<br />
the existing carriage way up to 1 meter and it acts as a hindrance for free flow of<br />
traffic.<br />
8.7.2 Public Transport System<br />

There is no public transportation system within<br />
the town. However, para-transit modes like<br />
auto rickshaws are available for intra town<br />
movement. There are approximately 100<br />
auto rickshaws in the town but there is no<br />
provision of authorised parking spaces.<br />
Bus transport provides connectivity to nearby<br />
areas as well as to other major towns. These<br />
buses are run by State Government Transport Department as well as by private<br />
operators.<br />
8.7.3 Issues in Traffic and Transportation Sector<br />
The road junctions at new and old bus stands were with poor geometrics.<br />
Majority of town roads are narrow and there is no scope of widening. Even<br />
these roads has been encroached on both sides by shop owners.<br />
The Ghandhi road is completely encroached.<br />
All along the Gandhi road and arcot road vehicles are parked as such.<br />
