program are:<br />

LONG TERM GOALS<br />

• Build a foundation for sustainability and<br />

economic self-sufficiency for Homestead<br />

Associations<br />

SHORT TERM GOALS<br />

• Enhance and strengthen homestead leadership<br />

and organizational capacity<br />

• Increase networking and mentoring among<br />

homesteads and beneficiary organizations<br />

The Kūlia i ka Nu‘u program provides a graduated<br />

approach for building organizational capacity<br />

for homestead associations and beneficiary<br />

organizations to carryout their programs and<br />

services to address community needs. Benefits<br />

include grant funding, land parcel awards for<br />

community and economic development purposes,<br />

and training. Relative to cultivating a<br />

lo‘i, community organizations go through different<br />

stages of growth.<br />
