East Kapolei IIB and IIC Mass Grading, East Kapolei, O‘ahu<br />
Mass grading of approxi<strong>ma</strong>tely 60.5 acres, in preparation for construction of roads and utilities for<br />
289 single-family lots. Construction began in the April 2010; scheduled completion is June 2011.<br />
This project was funded with Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act monies provided<br />
through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 205 undivided interest<br />
leases were awarded for East Kapolei IIB and IIC in 2008.<br />
Former Pesticide Plant Clean-up, East Kapolei, O‘ahu<br />
The facility had been used by Oahu Sugar Plantation for the mixing and loading of pesticides used<br />
in the cane fields. As a result, the grounds are contaminated and remediation is required before development<br />
can occur around the site. The DHHL has received a $200,000 Brownfields grant from<br />
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and up to $1.97 million in loan funds from the<br />
State Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund. DHHL has been conducting public meetings and consulting<br />
with the EPA and the State Department of Health to determine the most suitable method<br />
of remediation. The clean up is scheduled to start early in calendar year 2011 and last approxi<strong>ma</strong>tely<br />
fifteen months.<br />
Kumuhau, Waimānalo, O‘ahu<br />
52-unit project: Site work began in June 2008 and was completed in April 2010. Turn<strong>ke</strong>y house<br />
construction is esti<strong>ma</strong>ted to commence in August 2010 and the first home is scheduled for occupancy<br />
in December 2010. All homes are scheduled to be completed by August 2011.<br />
