PERRY ARTATES, Maui Commissioner<br />

TERM: 2007–2011<br />

Former chair<strong>ma</strong>n of the Waiohuli Hawaiian Homesteaders<br />

Association for six years, Perry Artates serves as the Executive<br />

Director of the Hawai‘i Operating Engineers Industry Stabilization<br />

Fund. His knowledge and experience in the construction industry has<br />

helped <strong>ma</strong>ny of the Waiohuli families and is an asset to the Hawaiian<br />

Homes Commission.<br />

DONALD S.M. CHANG, O‘ahu Commissioner<br />

TERM: 2007–2011<br />

Donald Chang graduated from Maryknoll High School and attended<br />

the University of Hawai‘i. He joined the Honolulu Fire<br />

Department in 1957 rising through the ranks to hold the department’s<br />

highest position, Fire Chief, in 1993. He retired after 37 years<br />

of service. Currently, Chang serves as president of the Honolulu Fire<br />

Department Retirees Association and president of the Friends of the<br />

Fire House. He was first appointed in 2006 and reconfirmed in 2007.<br />

STUART KEAHIAHI HANCHETT, Kaua‘i Commissioner<br />

TERM: 2005–2009<br />

Stuart Hanchett has been self-employed for the past 15 years. Prior<br />

to running his business, he was the director of station operations for<br />

Mid Pacific Airlines and a cargo, reservations and sales representative<br />

for Hawaiian Airlines.<br />
