FEDERAL FUNDS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT<br />

DHHL wor<strong>ke</strong>d with Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement to secure $5 million in grant<br />

funds for drinking water and wastewater system projects on Hawaiian Home Lands from the U.S.<br />

Department of Agriculture, Rural Development (USDA RD) agency. This is in addition to over<br />

$15 million in USDA RD loan and grant funds secured by Nā Kupa‘a o Kūhiō for drinking water<br />

and wastewater system projects on Hawaiian Home Lands.<br />

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Native American Housing and Self-<br />

Determination Act (NAHASDA) Program ($19.2 million):<br />

DHHL wor<strong>ke</strong>d with the National American Indian Housing Council to secure an additional $10.2<br />

million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for DHHL’s NAHASDA<br />

program which also received an award of $9.7 million as part of President Oba<strong>ma</strong>’s economic<br />

stimulus package enacted by the 111th United States Congress in February 2009.<br />
