take over once again. After all these hard
years she has now decided not to take part
in the management any more.
New owners
“There is no plan to sell the company and
its fleet outright”, says Lars Vang Christensen,
who in 2005 took over the senior
management after a 25-year long career in
A.P. Møller-Mærsk. “But it is obvious that
Vitta Lysgaard, in view of her age, is looking
for somebody who can take over the
shares and thereby the ownership of the
company”, Lars Vang Christensen explains.
“We have no preferred owner or any preferred
constellation to buy the shares. Our
main goal is to keep Herning Shipping sailing
and make a difference in the market in
the product tanker segment”, says Lars
Vang Christensen.
It is basically a scheme that will prepare
the company and Vitta Lysgaard’s family
for the day when she passes away. She
wants to make everything ready and not
leave the company in the doldrums without
an owner who can give the management
directions for the future.

After several sales, the Annelise Theresa is one of the smallest and oldest in the Herning fleet,
built in 1990 and on 2,440 DWT.

ships in a mix of owned vessels and vessels
on long term contracts to Herning Shipping.
The fleet will expand even more in the
coming years with several ships on order
from shipyards in China. Recently Herning
Shipping exercised an option for a further
two tankers of 13,000 DWT size, which will
be the largest units in the Herning fleet.
The 13,000 DWT ships will be far from
the start in 1963, when Peder Lysgaard was
an independent retail seller of petrol for
private cars. The oil majors did not like his
interference in their core market and made
a lot of obstructions for Peder Lysgaard’s
oil company, called Uno-X. One of them
was to make owners of tankers afraid and
scare them from sailing for Uno-X. So Peder
Lysgaard decided to build his own
