SHIPPING AND SHIP MANAGEMENT
The Carissa is one of several second hand vessels bought for Baltic Sea and North Sea trading
by smaller Finnish owners in 2006. The Carissa, built in 1988, is owned by Prima Shipping Oy
Ab in Borgå.
Other additions to the foreign flagged
fleet were Crystal Pool’s Korea built,
11,340 DWT chemical tankers the Crystal
Diamond and Crystal Topaz. Hollming has
since then sold all its chemical tankers and
the Crystal Pool traffic to Euroceanica
(UK) Ltd.
Together with Rederi AB Donsötank of
Sweden, ESL Shipping Oy entered the
bulk carrier Credo in its fleet. The ship is
jointly owned by the two companies and
sails under Swedish flag. ESL Shipping also
has two bulk carriers on order in India for
delivery in 2008 and 2009.
Neste Shipping Oy operates two Finnish
flagged 74,940 DWT product carriers, jointly
owned by Neste Shipping and Stena

2006 and the Palva in 2007 from Croatia.
In 2007 Langh Ship Oy Ab in Pikis took
delivery of the 907 TEU container vessels
Linda and Aila from the J.J. Sietas Shipyard.
Godby Shipping Ab in Mariehamn has
two ro-ro vessels under construction at the
same yard for delivery in autumn 2007.
Bore orders newbuildings
The Rettig-owned shipping company Bore
continues its expansion after the acquisition
of Bror Husell Chartering and Rederi
Ab Engship, which at the beginning of the
year were merged into the company.
In 2007 Bore ordered two large ro-ro vessels
from the German Flensburger shipyard
to be delivered in May and August 2011
respectively. They will have an initial
capacity of 2,900 lane m and can accommodate
double-stacked containers on mafis
on all decks.
Furthermore, Bore bought the 3,714
DWT dry cargo vessel Liamar, which was
renamed the Nordgard. She is a sister vessel
to the other “compass” vessels in the
fleet, Sydgard, Westgard and Ostgard. The
vessel is trading under the Dutch flag.
