TRAINING AND EDUCATION<br />

• The Air Force budget request <strong>of</strong> $399.4 million includes a program decrease <strong>of</strong> $90.7 million. This decrease is primarily <strong>the</strong> result<br />

<strong>of</strong> targeting readiness requirements deemed most important for full spectrum training <strong>and</strong> civilian personnel efficiency reductions.<br />

• The United States Special Operations Comm<strong>and</strong>’s budget request <strong>of</strong> $313.4 million includes a program decrease <strong>of</strong> $29.4 million.<br />

This decrease is primarily <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> termination <strong>of</strong> initial skill foreign language training to <strong>the</strong> Ranger Regiment; reductions<br />

in Military Free Fall training, projected reductions in <strong>the</strong> availability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> joint Medical Training Facility courses, <strong>and</strong> projected<br />

cost savings <strong>and</strong> efficiencies <strong>of</strong> private vendor training migration to joint accredited institutional training for Advanced Skills<br />

Surveillance Training Program.<br />

<strong>Office</strong>r Acquisition:<br />

• The Air Force budget request <strong>of</strong> $102.3 million includes a program decrease <strong>of</strong> $14.5 million. This decrease is primarily <strong>the</strong> result<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> net reduction <strong>of</strong> 92 FTEs <strong>and</strong> reductions in <strong>the</strong> Air Force Academy’s supplies, equipment, <strong>and</strong> travel.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development:<br />

• The Army budget request <strong>of</strong> $292.4 million includes a program increase <strong>of</strong> $29.2 million. This increase is primarily <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong><br />

an increase in Army National Guard students attending reclassification <strong>and</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Military Education training.<br />

• The Air Force budget request <strong>of</strong> $249.0 million includes a program increase <strong>of</strong> $10.3 million. This increase is primarily <strong>the</strong> result<br />

<strong>of</strong> ensuring that all eligible enlisted personnel can attend in-residence Noncommissioned <strong>Office</strong>r Academy (NCOA) <strong>and</strong> Senior<br />

Noncommissioned <strong>Office</strong>r Academy (SNCOA). The increase also supports exp<strong>and</strong>ing Squadron <strong>Office</strong>rs School.<br />

• The Defense Acquisition University budget request <strong>of</strong> $157.4 million includes a program increase <strong>of</strong> $8.4 million. This increase<br />

supports <strong>the</strong> newly established College <strong>of</strong> Contract Management.<br />

Flight Training:<br />

• The Army budget request <strong>of</strong> $1,016.9 million reflects a program decrease <strong>of</strong> $113.0 million. This decrease reflects reduced<br />

funding for <strong>Under</strong>graduate <strong>and</strong> Graduate pilot training seats as a result <strong>of</strong> clearing <strong>the</strong> training backlog over <strong>the</strong> past few years<br />

resulting in an overall decrease <strong>of</strong> 23 thous<strong>and</strong> flying hours.<br />

• The Air Force budget request <strong>of</strong> $792.3 million reflects a program increase <strong>of</strong> $34.6 million reflecting <strong>the</strong> overall increase <strong>of</strong> 16<br />

thous<strong>and</strong> flying hours.<br />

Training Support:<br />

• The Army budget request <strong>of</strong> $888.5 million reflects a program increase <strong>of</strong> $137.1 million. This increase reflects Army National<br />

Guard support for Non-commissioned <strong>Office</strong>r Education System, <strong>Office</strong>r Education System, Warrant <strong>Office</strong>r C<strong>and</strong>idate School<br />

<strong>and</strong> Warrant <strong>Office</strong>r Education System.<br />
