THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES<br />

Pre-requisites<br />

<strong>The</strong> curriculum for <strong>the</strong> programme assumes a prerequisite<br />

knowledge base in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong>:<br />

• Introductory <strong>St</strong>atistics<br />

• Financial Accounting Principles<br />

• Economics<br />

Thus, persons who are admitted whose prior training does<br />

not include adequate coverage <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se areas will be required<br />

to satisfy Departmental requirements by taking and passing<br />

workshop modules <strong>of</strong>fered by <strong>the</strong> Department, or alternatively,<br />

pursuing undergraduate courses <strong>of</strong>fered in <strong>the</strong>se areas in <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> Social Sciences. Such pre-requisite courses do not count<br />

towards <strong>the</strong> credit requirements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> degree programme.<br />

Enrolment<br />

So as to allow for <strong>the</strong> effective management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme,<br />

enrolment will be limited to at most 20 persons in any cohort.<br />

<strong>St</strong>udents must complete an internship and submit a pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

report pertaining <strong>the</strong>reto. This will be worth 6 credits.<br />

Programme Schedule<br />

This programme is to be delivered on ei<strong>the</strong>r a part-time basis<br />

over two academic years or on a full-time basis over one calendar<br />

year. For purpose <strong>of</strong> this programme, <strong>the</strong> academic year is to be<br />

divided into three (3) trimesters as follows:<br />

Trimester 1 - September to December<br />

Trimester 2 - January to May<br />

Trimester 3 - June to July<br />

Part-Time Delivery<br />

During Trimesters 1 and 2 (<strong>the</strong> regular semesters) students will<br />

do two (2) courses per semester. During <strong>the</strong> period June to July,<br />

students will be expected to attend on a full-time basis and do<br />

three courses.<br />

Full-Time Delivery<br />

Alternatively, <strong>the</strong> programme could be <strong>of</strong>fered on a full-time basis<br />

over a twelve (12) month period <strong>of</strong> three trimesters as follows:<br />

Trimester 1 - 5 courses (15 credits)<br />

Trimester 2 - 5 courses (15 credits)<br />

Trimester 3<br />

(Summer Period) - 4 courses (12 credits)<br />
