3.4 Fundamentals of Modelling in Finite Element Analysis<br />

Some fundamentals of finite element <strong>an</strong>alysis (FEA) <strong>an</strong>d ABAQUS/CAE are<br />

briefly discussed in this section. There are a few import<strong>an</strong>t areas during the initial stage<br />

of carrying out <strong>an</strong> FEA. The first criterion in FEA or ABAQUS is to know the basic<br />

element type before proceeding to other steps <strong>an</strong>d the second one is to know the mesh<br />

controls that are involved with meshing techniques <strong>an</strong>d algorithms.<br />

3.4.1 Element type selection<br />

The Line tab allows the user to choose <strong>an</strong> applicable element type <strong>an</strong>d assign it<br />

to one-dimensional mesh elements in the region.<br />
