<strong>The</strong> Importance of Family Records.<br />

Many do not jealously guard family<br />

Kept, ^relationship, family property, class privileges<br />

<strong>and</strong> national <strong>his</strong>tory, but also the origin of<br />

one who may become famous. We at once<br />

want to know who such an one is; what are<br />

<strong>his</strong> belongings; who are <strong>his</strong> ancestors.<br />

Wliile compiling t<strong>his</strong> genealogy, the author<br />

was applied to for the pedigree of a 3^oung<br />

descendant, who had been elected to a professorship<br />

in a State University, <strong>and</strong> it was<br />

furnished. <strong>The</strong> idea is true, no man is a distinct<br />

<strong>and</strong> separate individual. We are all<br />

products. We all belong to the past. Those<br />

who have been live over again in their<br />

children. Hence, in a man's biography, <strong>his</strong><br />

ancestors are alwaj^s recorded. <strong>The</strong> author<br />

also received letters from some families, who<br />

are probably lineal <strong>descendants</strong> of <strong>Bartholomew</strong><br />

<strong>Dupuy</strong>, but, having lost their pedigree,<br />

they could not be connected with him. So<br />

every one should endeavor to preserve a complete<br />

<strong>and</strong> accurate pedigree, which will be useful,<br />

<strong>and</strong> some day may become eloquent in<br />

lessons to <strong>his</strong> posterity.<br />

<strong>The</strong> author has strenuously aimed at accuracy<br />

<strong>and</strong> completeness in compiling the<br />

genealogy, but has been too dependent on
