D^y. Va., Nov. 12, 1729 (B. R. No. 9) ; d., aged 93 yrs.,<br />

at the home of her son, Edward Trabue, Woodford<br />

Co., Ky. ; m., 1744-45, John James Trabue, b.,<br />

1722; d. Dec. 23, 1803; [Ensign in the Revolution,<br />

<strong>and</strong> acquired the right of half pay, commutation<br />

<strong>and</strong> bounty l<strong>and</strong>s under the act of Congress; Son<br />

of Anthony <strong>and</strong> Magdalene (Flournoy, died, Henrico<br />

Co., Va., Nov., 1731, daughter of Jacob Flournoy)<br />

Trabue, born, about 1667, near Montauban,<br />

France, escaped to Holl<strong>and</strong>, 1087, <strong>and</strong> emigrated<br />

to Engl<strong>and</strong>, thence to America, <strong>and</strong> settled in<br />

King William Parish, Va., in 1701, where he died,<br />

Jan., 1724, aged about fifty-six or seven years, leaving<br />

five children—<br />

Anthony, Jacob, John James,<br />

Judith <strong>and</strong> Magdalene. "Antoine (Anthony) Tra-<br />

bue, a native of Montauban, aged about 19, of good<br />

size, fine carriage, dark complexion — having a scar<br />

under <strong>his</strong> left eye, has always professed the Reformed<br />

Religion, in which <strong>his</strong> parents raised him,<br />

<strong>and</strong> has never committed any offense that has come<br />

to our knowledge, other than what the violence of<br />

the late horrible persecutions justified, which persecutions<br />

God has had the kindness to stop, <strong>and</strong><br />

for which he has given us reparation. We com-<br />

* mend him to the care of Divine Providence, <strong>and</strong> to<br />

a cordial reception from our Brethren. Done at<br />

Lausanne t<strong>his</strong> 15th of September, A. D., 1687."<br />

original sheepskin parchment forwarded to Mr. A.<br />

<strong>his</strong> escape from France is given in a "Memor<strong>and</strong>um"<br />

of <strong>his</strong> family <strong>his</strong>tory, left by <strong>his</strong> gr<strong>and</strong>son,<br />
