ASSOCIATE DEGREES<br />
ASSOCIATE IN ARTS<br />
<strong>The</strong> Associate in Arts is <strong>of</strong>ten classified as the Liberal Arts “transfer degree” in that it provides<br />
the student with a broad exposure to the arts and sciences.<br />
Degree Requirements for Associate in Arts<br />
Each candidate for the degree must complete 60 semester hours <strong>of</strong> credit. Of these, 54 credits<br />
must be earned in the Liberal Arts, according to a prescribed plan covering the humanities,<br />
social/behavioral sciences, philosophy, theology/religious studies, and natural sciences/mathematics.<br />
<strong>The</strong> remaining six semester hours are allotted to free electives. Applicants who have<br />
attended other accredited colleges may transfer up to 30 credits for applicable courses in which<br />
a grade <strong>of</strong> “C” or better was earned. An outline <strong>of</strong> the degree credit requirements follows:<br />
