An introduction to non-expository forms <strong>of</strong> writing.<br />

Composition 3 credits<br />
A study <strong>of</strong> expository and argumentative prose,<br />
and the processes and techniques effective writers<br />
use. Classical rhetorical strategies, a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
grammatical and theoretical approaches, and<br />
(<strong>of</strong>ten) computer programs are employed to help<br />
students understand composition as a means <strong>of</strong><br />
communication and as a mind-shaping discipline<br />

Mythic materials are examined to discover the<br />
underlying heroic archetypal patterns. <strong>The</strong>n modern<br />
literature is examined in the light <strong>of</strong> the same<br />
