Cydweithio â rhieni ar faterion ieithyddol
Dylech gofio bod cydweithio â rhieni yn bwysig iawn o ran datblygiad ieithyddol
plentyn: mae plant yn dysgu eu hiaith/ieithoedd gan eu rhieni, a'r gweithwyr gofal
plant proffesiynol sy'n cefnogi ac yn ysgogi datblygiad ieithyddol.
Mae'n bwysig bod y staff a'r rhieni yn cydweithio. Gall staff gael gwybod mwy am
y plentyn gan y rhieni a sicrhau gwell dealltwriaeth o safbwyntiau'r rhieni. Er mwyn
gwneud i hyn weithio, mae'n bwysig y caiff rhieni gyfle i arsylwi ar y
gweithgareddau yn y lleoliad cyn ysgol. Siaradwch â rhieni'r plant am yr hyn rydych
yn ei wneud, a sut y gall y lleoliad cyn ysgol a chartref y plentyn gefnogi ac ategu ei
gilydd. Er mwyn atgyfnerthu'r cysylltiad hwn rhwng staff a rhieni, mae'n bosibl yr
hoffech ofyn i'r rhieni gwblhau'r holiadur sydd wedi'i gynnwys yn y canllaw hwn.
Mae angen rhoi sicrwydd i rieni o ran eu dewis i fagu eu plant yn ddwyieithog, ac
mae angen iddynt deimlo eu bod yn rhan o'r broses. Mae angen i rieni deimlo eu
bod yn rhan o gamau dysgu iaith a datblygiad ieithyddol eu plentyn. Mae hefyd yn
bwysig, o ran y broses caffael iaith, i rieni fod yn ymwybodol o'r hyn sy'n digwydd
yn y lleoliad cyn ysgol fel y gallant gefnogi'r plentyn. Mae hefyd yn bwysig i'r rhieni
weld eich bod yn defnyddio'r iaith darged gyda'u plentyn.
Dyna pam, ochr yn ochr â'r canllaw hwn, yr ysgrifennwyd pamffled ar gyfer rhieni,
yn ogystal â phobl eraill sy'n delio â phlant mewn lleoliadau dwyieithog ac
amlieithog. Mae'n egluro camau gwahanol datblygiad ieithyddol plentyn o'i eni nes
ei fod yn 4 oed, ynghyd ag awgrymiadau a chyngor ar gyfer y rhieni a brodyr neu
chwiorydd o ran helpu datblygiad ieithyddol y plentyn. Os ydych yn dymuno cael
copi, cysylltwch â'r corff perthnasol yn eich cymuned (Bwrdd yr Iaith Gymraeg).
Section 2:
Collaboration with parents on linguistic matter
You should remember that cooperating with parents is very important for a child’s
language development: it is the parents who give the child their language(s), and
the child care professionals who support and stimulate the language(s).
It is important that there is collaboration between the staff and parents. Staff can
find out more about the child via the parents and have a better understanding of
the parents’ views. In order to make this work, it is important that parents have a
chance to observe activities at the pre-school setting. Talk to the child’s parents
about what you are doing, and how the pre-school setting and the child’s home can
support and complement each other. To strengthen this link between staff and
parents, you may also like to ask the parents to complete the questionnaire
included in this guide.
Parents need to be reassured with their choice of bilingualism for their child and
they need to feel and be part of it. The parents need to feel that they are a part of
the language learning and development stages of their child. It is also important,
with regard to the language acquisition process, for parents to be aware of what
goes on at the pre-school setting so they can provide support for the child. It is also
important for the parents to see that you use the target language with their child.
That is why, along with this guide, a parents' pamphlet has been written. This is a
pamphlet not only for parents, but for others who deal with children in bilingual
and multilingual settings. It explains the different stages of a child's linguistic
development before birth until 4 years-old along with suggestions and tips for the
parents and siblings in helping the child during his/her linguistic development. If
you wish to receive a copy, please contact the relevant body in your community
(Welsh Language Board).
