Navigating CLI Modes<br />

The FTOS prompt changes to indicate the CLI mode. Table 3-1 lists the CLI mode, its prompt, and<br />

information about how to access and exit this CLI mode. You must move linearly through the command<br />

modes, with the exception of the end command, which takes you directly to EXEC Privilege mode and the<br />

exit command moves you up one command mode level.<br />

Note: Sub-CONFIGURATION modes all have the letters “conf” in the prompt with additional modifiers to<br />

identify the mode and slot/port information. These are shown in Table 3-1.<br />

EXEC FTOS> Access the router through the console or Telnet.<br />

EXEC Privilege FTOS# • From EXEC mode, enter the command enable.<br />

• From any other mode, enter the command end.<br />

CONFIGURATION FTOS(conf)# • From EXEC privilege mode, enter the command<br />

configure.<br />

• From every mode except EXEC and EXEC<br />

Privilege, enter the command exit.<br />
