GaOOH samples doped with different amounts of lanthanide ions were heated at<br />

500 o C and their XRD patterns are shown in the Fig.33. Samples prepared with less than 1 at<br />

% Eu are crystalline in nature with α- Ga 2 O 3 structure whereas above 1 at % Eu 3+ doping<br />

leads to the formation of amorphous samples. In order to check the structural changes with<br />

Eu 3+ incorporation, FT-IR measurements were carried out on undoped and 0.5, 0.75, 1, 2, 3<br />

and 5 at% Eu 3+ doped GaOOH samples which were subjected to heat treatment at 500°C<br />

(Fig.34).<br />
