Note that if the particular device is an application-specific video device, such as a Cisco TelePresence
System endpoint or an IP video surveillance camera, DNS address translation may be useful to provide
a meaningful name that indicates the type of video device instead of an IP address.
NAM Analysis of SPAN/RSPAN Traffic
When configured to analyze traffic that has been sent to the WS-SVC-NAM-2 via the Cisco Catalyst
6500 SPAN or RSPAN features, the NAM provides the same ability to monitor and generate reports for
traffic based on service class, as was discussed in the previous section. In addition, the NAM can provide
more detailed monitoring of RTP streams included within the SPAN or RSPAN traffic flows. An example
of the RTP stream traffic is shown in Figure 6-15.
