I have always been<br />
practical <strong>and</strong> I particularly<br />
enjoyed my electronics<br />
lessons at school. My PA<br />
put me in touch with the<br />
*Jive project in Bradford<br />
<strong>and</strong> help set up some work<br />
experience with <strong>Kirklees</strong><br />
Building <strong>Service</strong>s. This<br />
confirmed that training to<br />
be an electrician was<br />
something I wanted to do.<br />

Jessica<br />
Jessica’s training involves working four days a week gaining lots of practical<br />
experience - fixing security lighting, wiring boilers <strong>and</strong> sorting out other<br />
electrical problems. She also attends Bradford College one day a week<br />
<strong>and</strong> is working towards her vocational qualification. Her employer is really<br />
impressed with the way she has settled in.<br />
This is Jessica’s advice to other girls...<br />

Think things through yourself <strong>and</strong> don’t simply<br />
follow the crowd or the usual routes.<br />
