Sports Centre Assistant
Adam flew through his
GCSEs, getting great
results in his exams. He
went on to college to do
A levels in history,
biology, English and
sports studies with a view to
becoming a sports physiotherapist.
After four months at college he realised that A levels were not for him but he
was still interested in a career in sport. Adam visited the Connexions Centre
and spoke to a PA who registered him with *Recruitline. Adam then applied
for some sports apprenticeship vacancies which were being advertised in
the Centre. A few weeks later Adam was offered an interview at a large well
known fitness centre. The interview went really well and he was offered the
job.
Adam has now been working at the fitness centre for about eight months
and has obtained his lifeguard qualification with his employer’s full support
and encouragement. His career is going from strength to strength with Adam
currently training for a swimming teaching qualification.
He has received constant encouragement and support from those at work
throughout his training and is now earning £12,000 a year and has the
potential to earn much more once he has gained more experience and
qualifications.
