Looking for a job or apprenticeship? We can help.
Jobs and job hunting
Whilst at school tell your PA that you are looking for a job or
apprenticeship. Your PA can tell you about any suitable vacancies our
Recruitline service receives. Go to page 55 to see how Recruitline helped
Adam.
After school it is important you keep in touch with your PA, check
vacancies on www.workabout.org.uk or call in to one of our Centres until
you find a suitable job or apprenticeship. See page 54 for ideas of things
to do until you are fixed up.
Job hunting online
jobs & training
Visit www.workabout.org.uk - the website of Calderdale & Kirklees Careers
for
• job vacancies - updated daily, see page 52.
• links to employment and careers related sites
• help to write your CV - click on
You should also register on the National Apprenticeship Service website
www.apprenticeships.org.uk
Other help
• Don’t forget to tell friends and family you are looking for work - many
vacancies go unadvertised.
• Apply directly to companies you want to work for by sending
‘speculative’ applications, see page 63.
Do look for jobs with training and progression - don’t
take the first one offered if it is a dead end job
