Ideally, indicators should reflect more than one of the three aspects of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social/health<br />

considerations.<br />

POTENTIAL FOR EFFECTING CHANGE<br />

Emphasis has been placed on selecting indicators that can be influenced by individual, group, or community initiatives, as well as<br />

government or private sector action. Indicators that lend themselves to media use have also been included.<br />

Indicator Identification: Examples<br />

<strong>The</strong> following are some examples of the indicators proposed by citizens and members of the Project Team.<br />

Natural areas and corridors is one of the 11 topic areas requiring indicators. <strong>The</strong> objective of this category is “to develop a system<br />

of interconnected protected natural areas, which provides for the growth and development of natural flora and fauna and, where<br />
