A. Electricity & Water Supplies
Prior to the event, the Electricity & Water industry recorded a 1.8 per cent decline in GDP
during the January- June 2010 period compared with the corresponding period of 2009.
This was due mainly to declines of 9.8 per cent and 8.7 per cent in water production in the
January-March and April-June quarters, respectively. Electricity generation increased by 2.1
per cent and 3.5 per cent in the respective quarters. The fall-off in water production in the
17 While the JUTC continue to incur losses on some of its routes, a generous cut off period of seven days
was used to estimate losses.
